In 2026, the 58th Cherry Festival of Garbagna returns, a highly anticipated event for residents and visitors alike, attracting food and wine enthusiasts, families, and tourists every year in search of an authentic experience in the heart of Piedmont.

Until the early 1980s, Garbagna, a small village of just a few hundred inhabitants, was well known for its cherries.
The local varieties included Pistoiesi, Grisone (a later-ripening variety), and above all the Bella: a bright red sweet cherry with a medium-long stem, very crunchy, and therefore particularly suitable for preservation in spirits.
The entire valley was covered with cherry trees and, during the month of May, people would organize walks beneath the blossoming trees.
In early June, all the families took part in the harvest: the younger ones climbed the trees, while the older people stayed on the ground, holding the long ladders steady.
The trunk of the Bella di Garbagna cherry tree is tall and vigorous, and even today manual harvesting remains unavoidable.
