Interesting facts

Until the early 1980s Garbagna, a small village of a few hundred inhabitants, was known for its cherries.

Pistoiese and grisone (later) were cultivated, but especially Bella: a bright red durone, with a medium-long petiole, very crunchy and therefore particularly suitable for keeping under spirit.

The whole valley was covered with cherries and, in May, there was a walk under the blossoming trees.

At the beginning of June all the families dedicated themselves to the harvest: on the trees the younger ones climbed while the elderly remained on the ground and supported the long ladders.

The stem of the Belle di Garbagna tree is in fact tall and vigorous and manual harvesting is inevitable even today.
